As an introverted child who found it hard to express myself, I could relate most with Raven growing up. You can imagine then my joy when I learned that Teen Titans would be brought to us as a YA graphic novel-and that the first one would feature Raven. Superheroes remind us that there is something to believe in. Superheroes are about doing the right thing even when no one is looking and the odds are stacked against you. I still love superheroes, partly because of the nostalgia and partly because super heroes are about hope. In fact, it was my favorite superhero show because it featured a group that was closer to me in age. And when impossible things start happening, Raven begins to think it might even be better not to know who she was before.īut as she grows closer to her new friends, her foster sister, Max, and Tommy Torres, a guy who accepts her for who she is now, Raven has to decide if she's ready to face what's buried in the past.and the darkness building inside her.
